Patrick Ferraiuolo is a 42-year veteran of the New York City Department of Correction. He started his career at the Correction Institution for Men (CIFM) in 1982, where he worked for two years until he was transferred to the Manhattan House of Detention (MHD). He remained at MHD until being promoted to Captain in July 1987.
Patty’s first assignment as a Captain was CIFM, where he worked in the housing areas for two years. He was then transferred to one of the prison barges in Manhattan, MTF II, assigned to the intake area. In the winter of 1990, he was transferred to OBCC. While working in OBCC, he held many different posts such as Intake, Clinic, and Security Captain for CPSU. Shortly after being transferred to Otis Bantum Correctional Center (OBCC), he was elected as a CCA Delegate.
In July 1999, Patty was first elected to the Executive Board as the Sergeant-at-Arms, and two years later, was appointed as Financial Secretary. As an Executive Board member, he has always believed in total representation for all Captains. Whether it meant showing up at a roll call or a party for a Captain that was retiring, attending a parade, or visiting Captains at their facilities and assisting Delegates in resolving problems, Patty always put the needs of CCA members first. One of his main functions as a Board Member for 10 years was working with the CCA’s Legal Counsel to assist in pretrial OATH hearings. His years of experience as a Captain have proven to be extremely beneficial to the CCA and its members.
On Jan. 1, 2007, Patty was promoted to 1st Vice President, where he focused his energies on the membership. On April 1, 2009, he took over the reins of the CCA as President. After working in the jails for more than 25 years, Patty knows firsthand just what a Captain is up against every day and vows to ensure that all Captains continue to receive the very best Union representation possible.
Paul J. Idlett is a highly experienced professional with an extensive correction and administrative leadership background. He began his career on June 7, 1990, when he was assigned to the George Motchen Detention Center (GMDC). Throughout his tenure, Paul showcased his dedication and commitment to the field, leading to his promotion in 2001 as the Security Supervisor at the Robert N. Davoren Center (RNDC). With his exceptional skills and leadership qualities, he eventually assumed the role of Administrative Captain at the same facility.
In pursuit of new challenges, Paul was transferred to the Otis Bantum Correctional Facility/Central Punitive Segregation Unit, where he served as Security Captain. His expertise in maintaining order and implementing effective security measures played a crucial role in ensuring the facility's smooth operations. Paul later moved to Support Services, where he became a delegate in 2005. He gained valuable experience by working in various areas within the unit and eventually learned all positions, becoming the unit’s Executive Officer.
Paul's notable accomplishments continued to grow as he became Rikers Island Trustee in 2016. Recognized for his outstanding contributions, he was appointed Sergeant-at-Arms in 2018, further solidifying his reputation as a trusted and respected professional.
With a Bachelor of Science in Administration, Paul possesses a solid educational foundation that complements his practical expertise. His dedication to ongoing professional development and continuous learning ensures that he remains at the forefront of the industry's best practices and innovations.
In recognition of his skills and accomplishments, Paul was appointed 1st Vice President in 2021, a position that highlights his influential role within the organization. His exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and unwavering commitment to the profession have earned him the trust and respect of his peers and colleagues. Re-elected as 1st Vice President in 2023, Paul continues to be a driving force in shaping the future of Correction.
Throughout his career, Paul has consistently demonstrated his passion for excellence, unwavering dedication, and exceptional leadership abilities. His outstanding contributions make him a highly regarded professional in his field, leaving a lasting impact on both the organizations he serves and the individuals he leads.
Captain Leon Britton joined the New York City Department of Correction as an Officer on July 5, 1990. After completing Academy training, he was assigned to George Motchen Detention Center (GMDC). While at GMDC, he was activated for Desert Storm/ Shield (1st Iraq War). Upon his return to the Department of Correction, he was assigned to George R. Vierno Center (GRVC) where he remained until his promotion to Captain on Sept 1, 2000.
Upon his promotion, Leon was assigned to North Infirmary Center (NIC) where he remained until his transfer to Otis Bantum Correction Center (OBCC)/CPSU in August 2001. He worked primarily in CPSU until he was awarded the main intake post on the 3X11 tour. In March 2003, Leon was transferred to the Transportation Division (TD) where he remains to this day. During his assignment to TD, Leon was activated for the 2nd Iraq War and remained on Active Duty until April 2005.
Leon garnered the respect of his fellow Captains who elected him in December 2005 as their Union Delegate, where he successfully resolved numerous conflicts involving Captains with facility management and improved working conditions.
For his dedication and commitment to Captains, Leon was appointed to the position of Trustee in 2013, where he responded to hospitals and facilities and provided Executive Board members with updates on Captains’ conditions, situations, and issues. He was elevated to 2nd Vice President and was re-elected to that position in 2019. Leon has represented Captains at OATH, Workplace Violence, EEO, MEO-16s, and Firearms Review Board hearings.
Leon earned his master’s in public administration (MPA) from Fairleigh Dickenson University in 2013 and his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from City College of NY (CUNY).
Lawrence D. DeBianchi began his career with the Department of Correction on July 19, 1982. His first assignment as a Correction Officer was the Brooklyn House of Detention, where he remained until he was promoted to Captain on March 1, 1988. As a Captain, he was first assigned to AMKC and then to BCF, GRVC, SOD, and JATC. Lawrence was assigned to VCBC in 2001 and is currently the Control Room Supervisor on the 1500x2300 hour tour.
Lawrence was first elected as CCA Alternate Delegate for VCBC in 2001. In 2004, he was elevated to Delegate. He has been a member of the Columbia Association since 1982. In 2009, he was elected as Vice President of the organization until his appointment to the CCA Executive Board in 2014. Lawrence brings not only his experience and knowledge, but also his dedication, energy, and commitment to all CCA members.
Otis A. Blount began his career with the Department of Correction on Dec. 15, 1980. After completing his Correction Academy training, he was assigned to the Anna M. Kross Center (AMKC), where he worked a variety of posts. He was promoted to Captain on Oct. 27, 1989, and was assigned to the North Infirmary Command (NIC) CMC Maximum Security area. In March 1995, Otis was transferred to the George Mochan Detention Center (GMDC) where he was assigned as the steady Intake Supervisor and Facility Operations Captain. He then became the facility’s Environmental Health Supervisor.
Otis served as both a GMDC Alternate Delegate and Delegate for 10 years, successfully resolving conflicts impacting Captains by bringing issues to management and seeing them through to resolution. Otis’ hard work and dedication to the CCA did not go unnoticed. In June 2009, he was appointed to the CCA Executive Board as the Sergeant-at-Arms, and in February 2013, was appointed as Financial Secretary. Five years later, in 2018, Otis became the CCA Treasurer.
Otis has always been committed to the CCA and its members. He has great compassion for all Captains in the Department. His diligence, strong leadership, and experience help guide him through the challenges the CCA faces.
Captain Joseph Ferramosca is a 43-year veteran of the NYC Department of Correction, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience with him to the Correction Captains’ Association Executive Board.
Throughout his career, Joe was assigned to a variety of Commands and Units. As an Officer, his first assignment in 1981 was HDM on Rikers Island. A few years later, he was transferred to Support Services. On July 2, 1987, Joe was promoted to Captain where his assignments included OBCC for 12½ years, Headquarters for three years, and the Special Operations Division for 8½ years. From 2008 through 2011, Joe was in charge of the Department’s Communications Unit. He also served as a CCA Delegate representing both OBCC and SOD.
In October 2011, Joe began working full-time in the CCA office. Prior to becoming the Union’s Legislative Chairman, he was the Sergeant-at-Arms. He works with the Executive Board to attain improvements for all Captains, be it work conditions, benefits, or enhanced protection of our rights through legislation. Joe works diligently to educate all lawmakers on the difficult duties that Correction Captains perform each and every day.
Throughout his career, Joe has always stepped forward regardless of the situation. In 2005, he was assigned to the Department’s support contingent sent to Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Joe spent more than a month in the battered state, one of a small group of Captains supervising a team of 80-plus Correction Officers working in four Louisiana State Prison facilities and in New Orleans. Joe also was awarded the Department’s Meritorious Duty medal for actions taken on Sept. 11, 2001.
Joe has always been an active CCA supporter. He has organized and runs the Annual Golf Outing that raises scholarship money for college-bound children of Captains since its inception in 1999.
Captain Jahaira Almodovar began her career with the NYC Department of Correction on Feb. 12, 2004. Upon graduating from the Academy, she was assigned to RMSC. In 2008, she was reassigned to MDC and MNCT until she was promoted to Captain in June 2012, and assigned to RMSC where she’s currently still assigned. Having worked several posts, she is currently the Clinic Supervisor. She was elected as a CCA Alternate Delegate in 2019, a position she held until being elected as Financial Secretary in 2023. Jahaira received an Associate’s Degree in 2001 in paralegal law.
Sardou Augustin embarked on his journey as a New York City Department of Correction Officer on Nov. 20, 2008. His determination led him to rise through the ranks, eventually becoming a Captain on Oct. 23, 2015. He has served as a Delegate for the Correction Captains Association, attending hearings, assisting staff during arrests, and making hospital visits alongside his colleagues.
Having worked in the Ceremonial Unit, Special Search Unit, Emergency Service Unit, C.A.R.E. Unit, and currently serving in the Commissioner’s Office, Sardou has gained extensive experience in different aspects of the Department. He has also played a significant role in formulating a unit that focuses on the rehabilitation of young adults, working closely with uniform and non-uniform staff to create a constructive plan for their future.
Throughout his career, Sardou's primary focus has always been to support and uplift his fellow Captains. Whether it is through mentoring, aiding, or refreshing their understanding of policies and procedures, he strives to defend and enhance the rank.
Sardou believes that serving on the CCA Executive Board is the next step to further support the Union's mission. He considers it an honor and privilege to continue guiding and supporting his colleagues as they progress in their careers and strive to become exceptional members of the Department and future leaders.
Sardou will bring the utmost professionalism, unwavering integrity, and an unyielding commitment to his responsibilities as Sergeant-at-Arms.
Ashaki Jones began her career with the Department of Correction on Dec. 20, 2001, and received a well-deserved promotion to the rank of Captain just five years later on Jan. 19, 2007. Throughout her tenure, she has diligently served in various important roles, including Control Room, Security, Clinic, and EHO at Robert N. Davoren Center (RNDC). With an impressive eight years of experience as a Delegate, Ashaki has played a vital role with the Union by overseeing Captain hearings, communicating valuable information to management on behalf of supervisors, and offering support to Captains in need.
When the opportunity arose to become a CCA Island Trustee, Ashaki eagerly embraced the role, driven by her ambition to provide all members with a positive sense of direction. As the Island Trustee, she is committed to offering assistance and guidance to our esteemed Captains, ensuring they are well-equipped to navigate policy changes and embrace new initiatives.
With her unwavering dedication and extensive experience, Ashaki Jones is poised to make a significant impact as the Island Trustee, ensuring the welfare and success of both our Captains and all members of the Department.
